More painted poppies

Today I have a set of cards using some purple painted poppies. Yes, I am addicted to painting them!

I sent these cards out in packages last week and have received some questions about them from the recipients. In my hast to get them mailed, I missed photographing one of the five individually...whoops!

First, I follow the painting technique shown in THIS video by Ioana to create the blooms. It does appear that allowing for dry time between each petal works best. ARRGGGHH!
For these, I used Acrylic paint as well as Zig Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors.
After the blooms are dried I go back in and add stems and various green grass stokes, leaves and splatter....I'm still working on the composition of everything!  That's the fun of learning:))

I added the Sentiment at the base and tied some gold thread in various ways..I'm a bit schizophrenic in finishing things off.

Painting the blooms is very therapeutic and relaxing to me, I often make several card fronts at a time.
I encourage anyone interested, to have a look at Ioana's video and give it a try.
Please share your results, I'd LOVE to see what you create:)

CAFFEINATED Mini-release at STAMPlorations

It's a MINI-HOP with STAMPlorations' CAFFEINATED CHRISTMAS set from Becca..i.e. BIG GRINS:)))
I decided to make some tags with CAFFEINATED Christmas set and Sketchy Coffee Cups.
they made up so quick and easy!

Being more of a TEA drinker myself, I went for the TEA related sentiments...
and YES, I often forget to make the coffee! Shame on me!

Until November 25 (one week), this set is available at 10% off ($10.80
instead of $12)

Looks like we have Becca, Vicki and Kim to hop with...
now grab a CUPPA and get hopping!

Linking up to the 25 Days of Christmas Tags  over at Trcaey McNeeley's.
I was inspired by the one layer simplicity of  Chrissie Tobas Tags from Day10.

Ziggys used for coloring:)

The Card Concept Challenge #44

Happy Wednesday to ya!
Here is my card for The Card Concept Challenge #44.
I saw LOVELY texture in this inspirational photo.
I die cut a bird and heat embossed with WOW gold powder, then while the embossing was still HOT, I stamped an image onto the bird to achieve a cool texture.

The red leaves are real from the FIRE-BUSH at our home. I pressed them for a few days in a the pages of an old book. Then stamped in white a few images from Altenew Henna Elements. Allowed that to dry overnight.
I then layered several dies of branches and leaves behind the bird. The JOY die cut sentiment brings the whole thing together, along with the stamped notes:)

This card SINGS with texture!
Hope you have time to play!

Card Concept Challenge #43

Hello! Today begins a new challenge at The Card Concept:)
Here is my card, inspired by all the bits and pieces in the photo.
Using a set from Altenew, I simply stamped several images in black and added a few paper pieced accents. The Black borders from Waffle Flower Pattern Play help to balance it all.
My eye was drawn to the pop of yellow in the sunhat.

Hope you take time to play along!
